Greetings Blue Devil Family,
My name is Tara Adams and I am both privileged and honored to serve as the Varina High School PTSA
President for the 2011-2012 school year. Excitement and enthusiasm are raging within me as the VHS PTSA
Board members and I are eager to continue the march towards making the Varina High School PTSA illustrious.
Our primary goal is to increase overall involvement and engagement
in Varina’s PTSA . With approximately 2000 students, over 170 faculty and staff members, and even
more parents, this goal can be achieved very easily. We will begin with asking everyone to join the PTSA
and surpass our target of enrolling 1,000 members this school year.
Looking
forward, the new and exciting programs, events and initiatives we have planned, include:
· F.A.N.S. - Fatherhood Initiative | ·
Membership Drive with iPower 92 and Fish Fry | · Financial Workshop |
· Increased Teacher Grants | ·
Increased Scholarship Opportunities | · Directed Study Programs |
· College Readiness Town Hall Meeting | ·
Health/Wellness program | ·
5th Quarter Parties |
The2011-2012 VHS PTSA Goals:
1.
Increase Parent, Student,
Teacher, Community Involvement and Engagement
2. Fortify the Varina High School PTSA brand
3. Build strategic partnerships with other Varina student organizations, school PTAs,
and organizations in the community
Varina Nation, our Blue Devil family, has
a wealth of potential resources waiting to be utilized, where students, faculty, parents, and community will benefit from
all of the untapped potential.
Claim your commitment to VHS by doing the following.
1. Become a member of the PTSA by November 30th to allow us to expand
programs before the year ends.
2. Get
involved by giving 3 hours of your time to one of the PTSA’s events.
3. Chair or join a committee and showcase your skills, talents
and expertise.
4.
Commit to attend PTSA meetings where valuable information
about the school and programs are shared.
5. Contribute your ideas freely because Mrs. O and the Board want to hear from you.
6. Contribute financially because it results in better programs for all of our stakeholders.
We can’t wait to meet you, work with you, and hear from you this school year. Don’t
hesitate to reach out to me with any of your questions, ideas, or solutions at president@varinahs-ptsa.com. Please visit our website regularly for updates, visit
